Chromic Acid Anodizing Capabilities
Chromic Acid Anodize is the accelerated oxidation of an aluminum surface. The natural thin oxide layer on aluminum prevents some corrosion. The layer can be thickened by the Chromic Acid Anodizing process. This alteration provides even greater scratch and corrosion protection.

Process Approvals

For Chromic Acid Anodizing we adhere to:
  • BAC 5019 (Class 1, 3, & 5): Chromic Acid Anodizing
  • CSFS020: Anodize, Chromic Acid, Sulfuric Acid and Hard Coat
  • PS 13201: Anodize
  • SS8483: Anodize
  • SS8752

    • Material

    		Increase naturally occuring oxide layer.

    Base Materials Worked

    		Aluminum and aluminum alloys.

    Types

    		The Chromatic Acid Anodizing Coating Types we adhere to are:
    Type I - Chromic acid anodizing, conventional coatings produced from chromic acid bath
    Type IB - Chromic acid anodizing, low voltage process, 22 ± 2V

    Classes

    		The Chromatic Acid Anodizing Coating Classes we adhere to are:
    Class 1 - Non-Dyed

    Colors

    		Standard gray as well as all dyed colors.

    Anodizing Thickness

    		0.5µ-7.6µ

    Automation

    		All Chromic Acid Anodizing processes are performed manually to ensure the proper care is given to each step.

    Additional Operations

    		We offer several additional operations that may be required for your product: Cleaning, Magnetic Particle Inspection (NDT), Penetrant Inspection (NDT), Hardness & Conductivity Testing (NDT), Dry Film/Solid Film Lubricants and Primer & Topcoat Painting.
